How to get there
Within 40 km, the trinational region has 3 airports: Foz do Iguaçu (Foz do Iguaçu/Cataratas International Airport), Puerto Iguazú (Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport) and Ciudad del Este (Guaraní International Airport). At Foz do Iguaçu airport, there are direct flights arriving from the following Brazilian cities: Sao Paulo, Campinas (Sao Paulo), Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Curitiba (Paraná) and Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul). In Puerto Iguazú: from Buenos Aires (Argentina), Salta (Argentina), Asuncion (Paraguay), and Madrid (Spain). At Ciudad del Este airport there are flights arriving from Asuncion (Paraguay).
In Foz do Iguaçu bus station, there are also national and international arrival options (Curitiba, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Florianopolis, Porto Alegre, Buenos Aires and Asuncion). Another option is to come by car. In Brazil, the road that reaches Foz do Iguaçu is the highway BR-277. Just remember to bring along cash (currency: real) or debit card for the payment at toll places.
To get around the city
In Foz do Iguaçu, to get around by car, there are good options for car rental, taxi or transport apps. If you opt for public transportation, you can use the “Moovit” app to check upcoming buses, routes, and schedules. If you are cycling or walking, for example, use google maps to calculate the time and distance you will take. There are only a few sections of the city that has bike paths.
